An excavator is a type of special equipment used for work in various fields of activity: from the national economy to construction.
Selecting an excavator is a complex task that requires careful analysis of both technical and economic factors.
Manufacturers now produce different excavators:
1. By type of movement: tracked or wheeled
2. By type of functionality: loaders, diggers or material handlers
Excavator selection criteria
The main criteria when choosing excavator equipment should be:
fault tolerance
performance
functionality
However, it is important to consider:
What characteristics should a bucket have so that it can be used for specific work (processing soft materials, dense rocks, hard soil).
What should be the length of the arrow? Here it is important to take into account the distance over which you plan to move the cargo.
Determine the type of chassis: wheeled or tracked. For example, tracked special equipment will need to be transported from one work site to another, and this involves extra costs. Therefore, if you plan to carry out long-term work at one site, a wheeled unit that can move on public roads (unlike tracked ones) is suitable.
Wheeled excavators are more in demand because they are maneuverable and mobile.
No less important is the issue of transporting the excavator. If a wheeled excavator does not require transportation and can move along a public road, then to deliver tracked equipment to the work site you will need to order a manipulator (if the machine weighs no more than 4 tons) or a heavy crane designed for transporting large loads.
Backhoe loaders are in particular demand, and they are successfully used in the private sector for public works. Here again, the choice should be based on what tasks it will be intended to perform.
If you plan to dig trenches to a shallow depth, then there is no point in spending money on an expensive, high-performance backhoe loader.
It is important to do the following before purchasing:
Drive the car from the parking lot and carefully inspect the area on which it was parked. There should be no oil stains or other liquids of technical origin.
Check whether the gearbox and transmission are working properly, and what condition the brake system is in.
Using hydraulics, raise the excavator - this will help to detect or eliminate hydraulic hose leaks and boom play.
Don't forget about electrical equipment. Air conditioning, sound signal, lighting and other elements must be in working order.
Special equipment is a highly liquid product and is purchased for more than one decade. Take your choice seriously.
We hope that we have helped you in choosing an excavator.
